Suboxone cause constipation?

What is in the drug Suboxone that causes such constipation?

All opiate medications act on the central nervous system, which slows down peristaltic activity and many have an anticholinergic (drying) effect. The primary ingredient in Suboxone is buprenorphine, an opiate painkiller. We typically tell patients to increase their fiber intake or take half of a Fiber Choice tablet when using this medication. If constipation continues with the use of fiber, consider using Dulcolax (bisacodyl) tablets at bedtime. For more about constipation please visit us here: http://constipationblog.blogspot.ca/
